OK,THIS SUBJECT IS A MINEFIELD, but as i'm er rockit enginear i will try un guide you thick earthlings through it. . . .on the gaylander td4 un all other models after 2000 then the EOBD standard applys before thet it twas [EOBD11] now you can spend er fortune fer top er the range diagnostics, but fer the diy no piont really a company called elmscan is good , another an reccomended fer most lrs [need to check out models ont web sites] is gendan . . .this gives you all the leads and software to access yer gaylander inards [you will need a lap top to load the program ] note. . . you wunt be able to access [air bag control]so no chance er plodin the air bags ,also [brake control] also [alarm system] or [auto gear box control] just engine management that includes all sensors and control parameters enabling reset of certain fault code [most common] but not all ,however wiff the right skill un knowledge [that leaves just er couple er earthlings] you can diagnose faults take a copy of your parameters to check against at a later time [if you want to]when you use it ont motor you plug in obdc to the usb port er yer lap top ,run yer engine ,software will run through a series of tests to find out for example [if any fault codes are present]now heres the nitty gritty bit, there is no piont in clearin er fault code ,less youve fixed it [thets the skillbit] but if your jist er clever ole fart like me then you will be ok. . . .:) :) :)

Did you try this hardware and software man? It is shure compatible with my freelander 2002 td4 diesel?if it is ok Ill by it immediatly :).Do you know does this read and erase faulty codes?
REGARDS

Bought a self contained code reader/reset tool from Gendan for 'er indoors car. Have also used it on my 02 Gaylander TD4. Communicates with TD4 but I have had no errors (is it only me?) to reset. Unit reads EOBD and EOBDII codes and is supplied with a list of the generic codes used. Most manufacturers also have codes specific to themselves that are not published outside of main stealer territory. Unit cost less than £50 and is worth every penny. Check E-Bay, but I decided to stay away from the £10 Chinese jobbies
