The vent in the left side of the dash (TD5) that allows air flow when you open the vent flap, how is it attached?
I changed the wiper motor drive today and forgot to slide the rubber cover over the end of the motor. It’s still on the drive tube so l was hoping that if l could prise the left hand air vent off, l
could get my hand in (or a suitable tool) and push it back over the motor

Sorry the image is on its side, it’s not like that in my photos.

I’m not taking it all apart again if l can’t get to it though the vent. I’m not sure the rubber cover really does anything apart from maybe reduce the noise from the drive mechanism a little.

The vent didn’t seem to want to come off, but l managed to get the cover back over the motor by removing just the dash top.

When I removed my vent cover it was a hard job, really good sticky masticy tape holding it in place.

Mine were just clipped in, with some bits sticking out of the grille panel engaging with the edges of the dash panel. They kept falling out so I glued them in. I'm jealous of the fact that you have a rubber cover on your wiper motor. I've never had one of those. But then you seem to lead a more affluent life than me.

It only covers the drive part where the tube is bolted on, not the whole motor.
I assume it’s to protect the rear of the drive from rain water if you have the vent flap open
As the backplate of the wiper motor doesn’t look to be waterproof.
It didn’t do much for mine, as rusty water got past the useless rubber caps and through the drive spindles, down the drive rack, into the motor gearbox, and then on to the passengers floor.

Mine just has the nut that attaches the guide tube to the motor. There's a rubber pad that goes between the motor and the bulkhead. When I replaced my wiper mechanism at Christmas I noticed it had fallen out. I put the new motor in and secured the rubber pad behind it and now I don't have a rattle coming from the bulkhead area. So it does do some good.
