dash electrics and indicators stopped working

Hi , Need help , iv only just got me 1998 freelander on the road after buying it , had modded head gasket , new piston casing and coolant pipes only to take it out and while driving all dash went dead , no speedo no rev counter no nothing and no indicators , so i pulled over and turned engine off , then tried again still same but hazards work , wipers all that stuff , then went to start again and everything came back on , went shopping and when started car again no dash again ??? any advice would be appreciated thanks salesy2k6 ( new to landrovers and landyzone )
