damped crankshaft pulley

After replacing this a couple of thousand miles ago (100000 miles on clock), with a used one bought off an LZ member, this one is now going tits up.Could the problem lie elsewhere causing them to pack up or did I just get a replacement that was on its last legs. It was all fine when fitted, up to a few weeks ago. I replaced the bolt with a new one and torqued it up correctly. As the new ones vary in price between £400 and £1000 i want to get this right.
Any comments will help

i suppose you still have dual mass flywheel fitted ,

IMO, you can never rely on a used part especially on dampers, i couldnt afford OE part myself so went for this one Crankshaft Damper - LHG100580 | Defender, Discovery Series 2 | Land Rover | British Parts UK , no probs after aprox 15.000 miles till now... i'm not surprised they are out of stock on that price

yes, i guess. I have not changed it and have had it since about 60000miles.

That is cheap, the best i have seen is a Britpart one at around £400. Selling on Ebay for a grand, so they can do one. Thanks for that. I wonder how long before they are in stock.I am assuming disco and fender are the same.

Bugg*r. I chucked my old one out when my old engine went bang. Can you not weld it solid and be done with it? I cant see why the crankshaft pulley needs to be damped other than just something else to go wrong.

Your guess is as good as mine, but I think the inbalence of 5 pots causes a lot of vibration. Maybe the more technically minded on here will enlighten us.
