I will be fitting a dab radio double din in my 300Tdi and need a new aerial.
Anyone got any experience with a Nakatanenga defender aerial and is it worth nearly 100 quid?

Are you not better getting a bluetooth connection to your phone and just using that for the radio? i gave up with all aerials for the 110 and just use my phone and my wife does the same in her BMW because the dab signal drops out so frequently if using the actual radio.

That really depends on where you are. DAB is certainly a bit picky - I can't get the unit to auto tune at home, but drive a mile away and not only has it done it, but when I get home I can listen to the channels I use. Other than that, there's only one place I regularly go to where the signal drops, but the unit switches seamlessly to FM and it's fine. As I said, the aerial glass sticker work perfectly well (if you're in a signal area like mine), and would probably be the best for anyone green laning.

I use Android Auto, and gather that its big fault (no access to radio meaning you have to close Auto, choose your station and the back into Auto) is about to be fixed. I also use a usb connection for the free charge the 'phone gets. If your car already has gps then I guess a BT connection covers everything, mine doesn't.

I went through this debate with myself a few weeks ago, thinking I'd use Prime Music in the car. My current data allowance is 40Gb/m and so changed to Smarty for 80Gb/m. Sorted I thought, but the signal here is rubbish on the '3' aerial they use, so dumped it and back to O2. I found the Prime interface on the 'phone to be rubbish, not much better on the head unit, and since I've got all my music on the 'phone anyway have stuck with that. No need for more data - I do listen to podcasts in the car, but not that many.

Well I need a new aerial anyway as my other was binned when I stripped the Defender. I have spent waaayyy more than I wanted on the re-build so another 100quid is going to make little difference. I'll just tell the wife it cost a fiver off ebay.
