D90 200tdi Sedimentor Protection Cage

Dear All, whilst completing underbody steam clean thought it useful to remove the by the fuel tank/chassis mounted sedimentor and give a good clean too [it was covered in crap]. Mine has a piece of alloy sheet wrapped around it for protection, a home made jobbie c/o a previous owner...but it's only thin tin alloy and poorly made.

Have searched this morning for a replacement protective cage, but to no avail. Does anyone know where I could buy a sturdy off the shelf unit [before I start metal bashing one up in the shed]??

I'd be tempted to remove the whole thing and junk it. My 110 doesn't have one (was a 2.5nad now 200tdi ) and it's going on 14yrs since the 200 was fitted with no issues.
If the fuel pipes are 10mm od nylon going in and out of it (?) Then you can join with 10mm brass compression straight.
Just a thought?

@Flossie, understood but want to keep sedimentor...so looks like I'll be metal bashing...
