Hi does any one have any knowledge to share on the D2 expansion tank, I've just had my second Britpart one fail in 17 months (2 year warranty). The firm who sold them to me (Island 4x4) have asked me not to order another a replacement and recommended a genuine LR one (£££)!

Britpart themselves are not interested and referred me back to the dealer.

I have ordered a Bearmach version which is almost twice the price with 3 year warranty but I would be interested in anyone else's experience of both brands.

In that case are you sure the problem is not in the cap? Or the overflow pipe thingy? Excess pressure in any system should vent to atmosphere rather than burst/split the tank.

Thanks that’s good advice, I’ve ordered one although the second failure was at the joint from the bottom nozzle onto the tank which I don’t think would be pressure related.

Do you mean the nozzle sheared off? How rubbish is that. Although the pressure would find the weakest point and that might just have been that point.
From a consumer protection point of view you are absolutely in the right position to demand money back, a repair (ha ha) or a new one. Under the latest consumer law, the seller (NOT the manufacturer or wholesaler) has one chance to repair, then he has to replace unless you are happy to have your money back. See https://www.gov.uk/consumer-protection-rights
So Island4x4 are being a bit cheeky. If they think they are that awful they shouldn't stock'em. I'd advise at least getting your money back to put towards a new tank. Do have a good look at your cap, or swap it for a new one though, cheap enough i'd have thought. Just checked, £8 off the bay.
