Hey guys. My 95 300tdi with 145k is cutting out. No warning, just dies. Restarts after several attempts and then runs fine. Usually worst if I've used it, leave for a short while, then do a short trip. Sometimes fails to start if left for 30 mins between trips. I've changed fuel filter and no change. In your opinions, would you next look at sedimenter, fuel stop solenoid, or is there some other likely cause? Does it seem like air getting in? Cheers, James in Lancaster.

I would first do the things that cost little or no money:

1. Clean out the fuel sedimentor;

2. Check the functioning of the fuel solenoid;

3. Check the fuel functioning of the fuel lift pump - and check/clean it's filterscreen.

if the injector pump is a 3 wire, agree with ratty (edc pump and spider issue)
if its a 1 wire, possibly air in fuel issue and would check sedimentor housing. tho this can be applicable to edc pumps too, big lads suggestions are good to check.
peice of clear plastic tube in fuel line after the filter is useful for checking for bubbles.
air in fuel issues usually present with lack of power then cutting out, rather than complete loss of power.
