Has anyone done this? My battery box has finally given up the ghost, nice big crack right across the back side and now sitting on the chassis rail.
I was about to order a new one but I then remembered that I would like to put my diesel heater in there too, I tried it earlier this year but unfortunately with my truck battery in there the heater would fit, but the battery would only come out if the heater was removed! The other issue with these battery boxes is that the bottom out side is curved as it comes up towards to the sill, well I note that some aftermarket boxes square this off to give more usable space, I also see no reason why the box couldn't be extended out the back slightly, aside from meaning the box would need to be pulled forward the tipped to take it out with the tub in place I think it is feasible, this would give a good big space for batteries and heaters and all sorts.
I am going to start CADing up the new parts cut and folded up by a fabricator I know, but before I potentially reinvent the wheel has anyone done something like this?
Also, the question is, aluminium and riveted, or steel and galved?
Questions!
