when mine packed up the smoke had to be seen to be believed!
the internals had failed & my engine ate nearly all it`s oil.my
garage said it was the turbo & changed it anyway!

what sort of smoke? i get a lot of blue when i rev stationary...
should i just change it anyway?

Thats turbo oil seal failure-allowing engine to run out of control on the sump oil-you're lucky it did not destroy itself

For the price. Just buy a new one. Make shure it seals right in the rocker cover. I put a bit of gasket sealant on mine. Or it will leak like a good un.
