Crank Case Breather Valve?

Hi,

Can some explain why the mushroom valve is required on the TD5 engine? If it is one way and potentially blows (albeit nominal amounts) of oil into the turbo why not bypass it altogether and bank off the breather valve?

Its required to allow the engine to breath. You can fit a large catch can in line however

Thanks, but why feed directly into the intake, why not bypass it altogether to only clean air through and blank off the valve?? It is/should only be blowing out of crankcase after all.

I don’t know the engine.
But it is probably all to do with emissions.

It is all to do with emissions, older series engines vent to atmosphere.
