I have cracked one of my alloys 22" on the front. As a temporary bodge to get the car home from my work (rural area-windfarm) how badly would I risk the diff/trans box by putting 2x20" wheels on the front to drive it the 30-ish miles home?
AA won't recover it because of where it is and I don't want to leave it there over the weekend if I can avoid it. Have replacement wheel ordered it should arrive in 3-5 working days so it would mean car sat there for over a week in an area that the not so usefull members of society roam with their quads and trail bike's.

22 with 40 profile tyre and 20 with 45 profiles. quite a difference. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I'll hope for the best and drive it to the security hut if tyre holds out enough.
Might try a tub of slime in it and see if that will seal it for 2-3 miles.

Odd size wheels have been reported to have an effect on ABS sensors as ABS thinks one wheel is turning at a different speed. I'd suggest change wheel, drive it home using care and caution. Don't get wheels welded, it's now an MoT failure so I've read. It shouldn't make a difference to the diffs as they will think the car is cornering all the time.

Quiksteel might get you home?

Check the rolling radius on the web, you may find that there is not much difference. As an example, 16" rims with the correct tyre have the same rolling radius as 18" rims with the correct tyre on my P38's
