Couple of landy 300TDI Questions

Hi Peeps

Just a couple of questions i wanted to ask ? I got a 300TDI and on long jorneys the temp gauge is up and down from cold to half way most of the time on cold but then after a hour moves to half way ? also the rev gauge seems to be out also not showing the correct revs. you can much have it flat out and its showing 2500k revs but its cleary doing more.

Also seems a bit flat. turbo also has very little play just very slow and wont go above 70mph

is your 300tdi original or transplant?

temp fluctuating could be unregulated fluctuating current from alternator as could rev counter though tha could be poor connection too ,temp could also be poor rad not hot all over ,fins missing or low coolant level ,level in expansion tank is not necessarily level in engine you need to remove bung on thermostat housing to check ,check boost pipe from turbo to injection pump ,air filter and pipes (on suction side for collapsing and pressure side for leaks )pump timing can also make a noticeable difference to performance

Could be bad connections on the instrument pack. My Rev Counter wobbled alarmingly until I cleaned the contacts . . .
