Costing for repair

Folks,

I have been given what I believe is an expensive quote for the labour cost on a Landrover Discovery 2. Could someone provide what is a reasonable estimate for the labour required for the repalcement of the following parts:

1) brake vacuum pump
2) 2 rear disks
3) rear brake pads
4) the freeing up of a seized rear calliper.

You've posted on the wrong forum.
But if you can't repair those things yourself, you would be as well getting rid of your motor and buying a nice shiny new Prius with a warranty.

Discs and pads 20 mins a side, caliper not worth the bother, replace it.
Vaccum pump - no idea.

So I would say a two hours max for the rear brakes, replacing the calipers, discs and pads and bleeding the system

Agreed! Those are easy jobs. if you don't know how to do them, watch some youtube vids and learn. Seriously. This is no more than servicing. Unless you are physically unable, use this as an opportunity to learn new skills.

I'd replace both calipers - the other side won't be far behind, and you'll only bleed the brakes once - two birds, one stone and all that.

I would suggest a novice could do the job in a morning, an easy morning.

Vacum pump is where the problem is, Genuine one is £350 plus, aftermarket is around £50 and upwards
