Correct engagement of HDC and lights

Hi, I've read so many posts and threads about HDC light problems but I have a basic question to ask. I have not collected my td4 yet so I can't refer to the owners manual, but would like some info to test HDC before driving away from garage. Could someone tell me what 'should ' happen when I engage HDC, e.g what lights should come on a? what colour should they be? also the colour of the light during switching on the ignition. Cheers
