hi, my P38(4.6) battery was dead yesterday so i jump started it and left it running for 5/10mins.

i then noticed water pouring from near the front right wheel. so i quickly turned of the engine.

after investigating i found out that after some minutes of idling, the water in the coolant bottle bubbles and then pours out of the overflow.

i spoke to a mechanic and he said that i should defiantly change the thermostat and the radiator.

if that doesn't clear it up, i WILL need a new engine!!!

can i have some help/points of view on this situation. and maybe some help in what i can do!

Paul

exhaust gas hydrocarbons in coolant indicates head gasket failure or slipped liner

ok, ill look into that, does any normal garage do this? do i have to take the car there or do i just take a sample of the coolant or somehting like that?

has anyone seen this problem before?

yes your local garage will be able to do it for you. and yes i have seen it befor mine did it, and you dont want to know the rest..

**** gav that sounds like me hahaha we going to fix my rr soon, i got all my contacs on to it. hope you ready for it mate....

just spent a few hours trying to sort it out, and it seems to work ok now. i left it running on idle for about 30mins, and then took it for a run to get it hot.

the coolant didn't boil over, or overflow at all.

i done a hot water test on the thermostat and it did seem to open, im not too sure how much it is supposed to open up though.

fingers crossed it was some weird airlock or something?
