Coolant Loss

Here Goes.........

As you can see in the above pictures, i have a 4.6 Range Rover. It is a 1996 N Reg with 72,000 on the clock, she starts and runs nicely, but she seems to loose coolant.

In the photos i have labelled it the gas cooler, but i have no idea what it is, it sits just behind the Near Side headlight in the engine bay, (not visible on the engine picture).

The two pipes beside the body i have been told supply and return coolant to that, and the pipe thats barely visible beside the engine supplies that with gas.

I have noticed a puddle of greeny water that i believe to be coolant under there, what do i do?

Any help and suggestions much appreciated!!

is there any foamy white stuff when you take the oil cap off? or have u got plooms of grey/white smoke out the exhaust? if you have checked all ur pipes, connectors and expansion tank cap. then it sounds like head gasket.

i have checked under the oil filler cap and it was clean, the oil on the dipstick was spotless too, and there is no white smoke coming from it what so ever.

It has got all of us stumped!!

The only place i have seen coolant is under that part of the gas system in the engine bay.

Hi i belive it may be a gas warmer,from what i have seen on other ut has the 2 coolant pipes running through the unit is held together with a ring of screws/bolts,it must have a gasket between the faces so best bet is get it repaired or do it your self,a good semi hard silicone gasket should fix it,what you got to loose,tiga

I spoke to a Gas specialist today, he said that it is the condener unit. Apparently there are lots of little O rings inside it.

I didn't really wanna take it apart because of the gas!

Might have a bash!
