Firstly, I must apologise in advance for making my first post one with a question. even so, I am hopeful that you guys can provide me with guidance, and if not - thanks for reading!
I have foolishly agreed to assist a friend of mine convert his carb 3.9 over to injection. The vehicle in question is actually a converted 90, though the donor vehicle is a Range rover classic (of the 1990 vintage - pre-cat)
I think I have managed to extricate the parts of the wiring loom that relates from the remainder of the donor vehicle, but I am left with a quandary on the gearbox wiring...
So here is the questions...
1. The ECU diagram shows a vehicle neutral pick up from the gearbox, as well as a speed sensor. Probably a stupid question, but are these necessary for the ECU to operate? (I do appreciate this is most likely a dumb question!)
2. The wiring diagram I have for the ECU is brill, but has no details on the other wires attaching to the gearbox. I am having a little trouble working out which bits are necessary and which are extraneous, as it seems to be deeply integrated into the general loom.
