Converting a defender 90 2.5 petrol to tdi

Hi guys

Just been looking on ebay at defender 90's and came across a few 2.5 petrol defenders that was in the listings which looked to be in better con'd than most tdi defender 90's.

so being that I have done a S2A petrol to 200tdi conversion before and owned a couple of 300tdi disco's aswell, I was wondering how hard is it to convert a 90 2.5 petrol to 200 / 300 tdi I know there are difference's in engine mountings with the 200 and 300 but will either of the two tdi engines drop straight in like on a S2A or will I need to fab mounts to fit, has anyone else done this conversion before and what did you do to get round this :)
 
I've just fitted a 200Tdi into my petrol One Ten. I removed the petrol engine mounts from both engines and reused the petrol ones on the 200Tdi and it dropped straight in.

Use the Glencoyne Engineering guide as it's a bloody good guide.

cheers paddy I will keep an eye on these two 2.5p's just out of interest as if it wasn't for it being ####ing Christmas this month I would put a bid on one of them but I am not in a rush so will wait till the new year to get one ;):)
 
As anyone got any pics of both 200tdi and 300tdi engines inc both sides please just to see how the engine mount holes are on both engines aswell as how the oil filters differ in position on each engine :)
 
I have just changed my 2.5 petrol to a 200 tdi mine was very straight forward as it was a defender engine I put in so very few things had to be made different. I did think of putting a 300 disco in as I could get on cheap and would have used one of these...
SPCK300 DVY 300TDI CONVERSION INTO DEFENDER 90/110 ENGINE MOUNTINGS LT77 GEARBOX | eBay I think the bell housing may still have to adjusted but the engine should bolt straight onto the mounts then.
 
Done 200 , 300 and v8 conversions, 300 is probably the hardest engine fitting wise as I had to fab new mounts that bolt between the block and original engine mounts but none are that hard TBH
 
Cheers to paddy, 200tdi er, and BFG, ok I was hoping to do a 300tdi conversion but looks far to complicated fab wise as reguards the engine mounts and gearbox mods but hered that the 200tdi was getting scares now just hope there are plenty around when I come to doing the conversion obviously this all depends if I end up buying a 2.5 petrol or a tdi ;):)
