G'Day my fellow enthusiasts, I'm a Sweaty living in South Africa looking for a bit of advise, I am the proud owner of two Landy's, a 1983 Series 3S
which is essentially a locally built Landy with a 3.8 ADE diesel installed, (Atlantis Diesel Engine) which in essense is a Perkins, made under licence.
I'm about to undertake a small conversion to re-motor my V8 110
(The other thirsty one), with a 4l Perkins with gearbox that I purchased in the UK,
The doner vehicle was a an older Range Rover the gearbox No. is 355813866 not sure what this refers to but I'll be dropping the unit in as one, as I bought it, my questions is do I have to change the diff's to a different ratio on the V8??, cheers looking forward to some dialog.
Rgds.
John

I would think the oe diffs on the 110 will work OK they will be 3.54 to 1 , you are going to slower than the petrol V8 as you wont have the rev range with the diesel probably about 2600 max rpm which will be about 65/70mph cruise .
I put a 4/98 leyland in a series 3 (its a 3.8L) , changed diffs to 4.1 to 1 and fitted an overdrive that cruised at 60mph , up hill towing !! but 65 was on the governer HTSH
