connector help - please

I am upgrading my lights form the normal ones to RDX LED ones. They come with the connectors in three parts. The crimped blades, the black plug and a yellow bit for the middle of the plug.

I appear to be being dense in that if I push the wires through the back of the black plug and then clip on the yellow bit in the middle they seem fine - and in fact I can get them to light. However - the wires fall out easily again.

What am I doing wrong? thanks

Post some photos of the plugs and how you are assembling them. @PaulMc is the local connector guru (I think).

Hi actually I have sussed it over night. Having killed 5 plugs -ugh.

the contacts have an up and a down. When they go in the right way they then click. Then you can click yellow retainer in.

they are econoseal type.

That was my original thought, but didn’t want to insult your intelligence, without a photo first. At least you have it sorted.

Is there a way to get the yellow centres out or once they are in the are in?

It should just pull out. It may take a little force, as it clips in, but it can be done without breaking it. Why do you need to remove it?

Because I’ve managed to clip
Them in and the metal connectors aren’t locked. Looks like they cannot be locked with the yellow bit in.

Should all click into place and become a secure plug on a wiring harness, you must be assembling it incorrectly, they usually need a small flat bladed screwdriver to disassemble
