Disco 4 (LR4) Connect iPhone to car audio

Hi,
the stereo in my Disco 4 is the one that has a blue-tooth connection for phone but not audio, so to play music from the phone I need to connect it using the LR iPod curly cable plus a lightning adapter.
This works great, the problem is that the connection is in the center cubby-box and the cable isn't long enough to connect while it's sat in its cradle on the dash. It needs to be 3-4 feet for that and it's way short of the mark.
I've had quite a few attempts at cobbling together an extension from other adapters but none work so I'm guessing that a crucial connection or two is missing.
So, I'm going to keep trying, but does anyone know of a cable that will do the job?

I would say check out what Parrot can do in this regard or failing that, have a chat with a vehicle ICE specialist.
