Hi, I am very puzzled by this one!! My 1999 4.6 has been left standing for about 6 months due to illness. When it was left the air suspension had gone, or so i had thought. It was down on the drivers side front first then all the rest a day later and would not go up. As it was left so long the battery was dead so i bought a new one and connected it. I had a great problem getting the remote to work but is now sorted. I put the key in the ignition and to my surprise it fired very first time and ran as sweet as a nut, here is the odd bit, the suspension pumped is working as normal and i have been for a drive, does anyone have any ideas as a leak in the system doesn't fix itself, i wondered if it could be a sensor or other electrical fault, any help on this would be good as funds are low after being ill for so long and am worried it might go down again. Sorry for the long blurb guys. Many thanks in advance. Paul

Might just be a leaking airbag, they sometimes leak a little where the rubber folds under and the leak is intermittant. Or could be the sensor as it was only one corner down.

On reflection it could be that there is a very small leak and the flat battery stopped the system from self leveling.

Even when the vehicle is switched off, the suspension system checks itself height wise, about every 3 hours, if there is a small air leak in the pipework/airbag on one corner the system will lower the other 3 airbags to maintain a level vehicle. While switched off the system only lowers itself, it will not inflate/lift an airbag.

Over the course of time your battery goes flat and the air escapes from the system. A small leak in an airbag fold is the most likely answer or when first left standing the OSF wheel was raised on a slight bump.

My p38 will sit quite happily for a week on a flat level surface without losing height, but move it 2 feet on to a slightly rougher surface with a raised wheel and the suspension will sink over night and has been like this since I purchased the vehicle 18 months ago.

I'm hoping to replace my airbags soon as the rubber is starting to show signs of cracking, but it still will not stop the system from lowering itself while parked.
