Compressors for air tools

I am thinking about taking advantage of an offer I've seen for a compressor and basic air tools kit. Question is, what CFM should I be looking for? I'm not going to want it for spray painting as I don't have a garage,(nor am I that fussed about my paint work!)
But, I'd like to use it for tyre inflation and since a serious back injury, for powering an air wrench and similar airtools. It would be getting used infrequently, but I am conscious that it's the sort of thing that you might buy a too low capacity one and regret it later - however I don't need a professional set up and am on a budget. Anyone out there got any knowledge on these (oh, and if it makes any difference, I'd envisageputting a long air line extension on as my power and sheltered point is for the compressor to sit is 10/15metres from my driveway) I'd like to be able to use it to spray waxoyl type stuff in my chassis etc. the cfm figures mean nothing to me in that sense, so if anyone can advise I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
