Evening all

Bit of a tale but here goes. Couple of days ago I was out with my 2003 110 td5. Everything was going fine until I arrived back home, I have to reverse into my drive so pulled over to let traffic past then swung out ready to reverse. In reverse started moving then all my electrics failed and engine stopped, I managed to roll back onto the pavement. Tried turning the key a couple of times but all that happened was all dash lights flickered and engine temp gauge needle flicked back and forth, no life in the engine. I sat for a couple of minutes shaking my head and cursing, in that land rover owner way, then tried the ignition again. The dash lights were on as normal and the car burst into life. I got the car onto the drive and let it run for a while, no problems. Turned off then tried to turn it on again.. you guessed it.. flickering lights and no power. Left it for a few minutes and it turned over fine again. Since then it got progressively worse and has now died completely. I had been able to lock it and set the alarm until this evening when it was dying and all I got was strobing indicators that wouldn't stop and the alarm relay was constantly clicking. At that point I disconnected the battery.
As I said, till now its run fine no issues. The only thing I can possibly link it to is about a month ago I fitted two spotlights and finally wired in some heated seats. But since wiring in I've had absolutely no problems. I even used dedicated 'plug and play' wiring looms supplied with the kits. They are good quality bits of kit, spots from O.R.E. and seats from Exmoor Trim. Watched they're installation vids so I'm reasonably confident its not them. I also completely disconnected the stuff I'd put in and still had the problem. I also recently replaced the wiper relay behind the dash, no intermittent, with an aftermarket one no issues intermittent back. Again I took out the new relay and put the old one back, no change.
I have absolutely no idea about electrics so would appreciate any advice before I have to look for an auto sparky.
Thanks

Hi, follow down the the battery main earth lead to not be loose or corroded (i dont know where it is connected on the defender)...according to other site it's: "Partway along the cable there is one 8mm terminal which is bolted to the chassis at the gearbox crossmember, and then a 10mm terminal at the very end which is bolted to the transmission."
