I've done some searching around within the forum, and whilst gathered some useful information have yet to find the definitive answer I need.

I'm hoping to find some VAT registered,Ltd business owners or perhaps an accountant that can help who has already either researched or actually done what I would like to do.....

I am in the market for a Defender 90 2.4/2.2 TDI Hard Top and would preferably like to buy it through my own VAT registered LTD company as I "believe" that the Hard Top is classifed as a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) making it a tax efficient way of owning and running Landy!!
From a Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) classified as a N1 vehicle the 90 is eligible for the cheaper road tax (please correct me if i'm wrong!) although a view of V5 of any 90 i've been advised is advisable!
BUT, does HMRC recognise a 90 Hard Top as a car or commercial vehicle from a Benefit in Kind Tax perspective??

Appreciate any assistance in helping to get my "do I", "don't I" conundrum put to rest once and for all!

TIA!
Andy

Easiest way is it must be able to carry 1tonn In the rear.
That’s why you see loads of L200 type pick ups

Unsure if you could try this with a 110dcpu?

Is this a joke post?

It has to be, maybe July is the new April?

All I can say is that if you can't afford to tax it then you can't afford to own it, we pay feck all road tax as it is in this country as it is so get serious man for gods sake.

My advice, don't, you'll only regret it.

I'm certainly not paying feck all road tax....please tell me where I is going wrong

In comparison to most other EU countries we pays feck all, I know that I was paying £2400/yr in Holland for my Discovery 1 and I am more than happy to pay the good old PLG £245/yr thanks, there shouldn't be anything on the road paying less than £245 and that money ought be ring fenced for infrastructure just as it was before some arcehole thought it a good idea to rob it to line the pockets of banksters and crooks.

Not sure I'd agree with your view regarding a minimum vehicle tax payment of £245 regardless of the vehicle......but hey ho, each to their own.

We are shafted for tax at each and every opportunity, don't wanna be offering them more.

Glad you're not the government minister charged with setting the VED levels....:D

My 2.2tdci station wagon is described in the V5C as a light goods vehicle and is categorised as group N1. It would appear then that for benefit in kind purposes is would be the same as a pick up according to the government web site.
Land Rover had defenders recategorised at some stage, it also means that excise duty is less with tdci engines than td5

I would want to be crowned king and yes £245 would be minimum and ring fenced and spent on resurfacing and creating new roads, tunnels and bridges to get productivity flowing again, that would include reopening byways and repairing them too for the public to enjoy.

Why should any car pay £0 tax in your opinion?

I personally have no problem with contributing to the tax take as long as I can see that there is a value for money in the way that it is spent.
