coding key fobs

Procedure

Unlock the car using the key, then operate the lock button on the handset at least 4 times.

Unlock the car using the key, then press lock & unlock buttons alternately several times

1. Lock car by using key in lock
2. Move out of range and press button on fob for 5 secs.
3. Unlock car door with key but do not open door
4. Standing near the vehicle, press the dotted button 4 times very quickly, the door should lock
5. Then press the unlock button and door should unlock. "

I came across this on tinternet, sounds far too easy , what do you think?

i tried several of these methods without success, eventually went to the local rover garage and they coded 2 fobs for £40.
trying these methods is free so good luck and post your results

I've got a hawkeye total, but there seems to be very little info out there on what exactly it can do. For example can it give EKA codes?

Remotes can only be programmed to a car using diagnostics

I believe Hawkeye can display EKA but 2001MY on didn’t have EKA code

Mine's a 1999 1.8 k series so I,m pretty sure it should have one, I just can't find it.

That won't work as diagnostic equipment is needed to program fobs.

A 99 should have a code. If the key is flat with a hinged section?, then the transponder is in the fob.

Stored in the CCU and from memory the option to display the EKA is within the menus for that

coding key fobs
