Hi all just a little bit of advice on your service schedule....Check the bracket on the front of the gearbox...mine snapped not so long back and i lost all the fluid from the hydraulic assembly. I dont know if it is a common problem ? But mine seems to have been the original.
I think its a definite thing to be checking at least once a year and if it does need replacing better to do it before for a couple of quid ( 7.00ish + the vat).
As this will.....
A) Saves you the cost of new hydraulics.
B) saves you the cost of a taxi to get home.....
If it hadnt gone i think i would still be using the original hydraulics..but hey no worries its done now.
Just check it every so often you will see the wear under the slave cylinder and one more thing i did have a little bit of difficulty changing gear for a couple of weeks prior to failure...
You have been warned.......:eek::eek::eek:
As you all know any FREELANDER problem advice is def worth ready about and listening to......:cool:

Mine went at 120,000, I put it down to corrosion weakening the bracket after the slave cylinder came adrift with same loss of fluid etc.

I found the slave bracket was broken after a recent shunt in the Hippo and bought a new one for not many of your Earth pounds.

While I was waiting I managed to lash together a temporary repair with zip-ties and a small block of wood. You can tell I've got a Series LR too, eh?

Mine broke at 108,000 - I cable tied to get me home, made a temporary repair using a trailer socket mounting bracket and got a genuine part from a dealer which is now fitted.

Clutchy - very common problem on older hippos :)

Regards,

Steve
