Hi!!
Ok so last time I posted on here got lots of help so this time hoping everyone will be as friendly as last time! basically my freelander td4 2003 needs a new clutch! got stuck in expected mud yesterday with horse box (stupid field for trailers to be parked and stupid me.for allowing the clutch to burn so much!!) should have un hitched sooner rather than carrying. lesson learned!!

So my question is..... is changing the clutch a mommoth task on these? my other half is a mechanic so have the tools and the knowledge. however he hasnt done one on a freelander before so basically any advice (other than pointing out i was stupid to burn it) would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance! :)

The IRD needs to be removed first. However once that is out of the way, the clutch change is like any other modern front wheel drive vehicle. Make sure that the Duel Mass Flywheel (DMF) is in good condition, then fit a complete clutch kit, including the slave cylinder/ release bearing (Concentric)
Good luck ;)

I did this a few years ago
it certainly isnt a 5 minute job but is very do-able by a competent diyer.

the biggest problem i had was handling the weight of the gear box - had to borrow an engine crane to get it back on !!
