has my clutch gone if all the engine does is rev when placed in gear, unless I use diff lock and then it is OK or is it the transfer box?

If clutch had gone proper you'd get no drive at all. This sounds like what happens when a prop is removed, drive will take path of least resistance and therefore will just turn splines where prop was, difflock locks centre diff so that it gives 50% power to either axle so then even with one prop removed drive will be possible.
I assume you haven't 'lost' a prop somehow? Unless someone has taken it off you'd definitely know if it suddenly dropped off!
Someone else may be able to diagnose a more logical T/Box fault for you though.

get somone to check which prop is spinning while you run it in gear diff lock off , the axle with spinning prop will have bust drive member ,cv ,diff or half shaft

yes prop is spinning when in gear and out of diff lock...so I assume that means it is transfer box?

Which prop, front or rear? As jamesmartin said it'll be someone gone in the axle that the spinning prop drives.
