Morning all, I would appreciate some advice on the issue I have with my Freelander DI - I'm more or less positive its clutch related but unsure whether its master/slave or the plate itself.
Symptoms are: difficult to engage gears while engine is running (especially at low speeds), high take-up on clutch pedal, jumps out of reverse and getting it back in is accompanied by much grating.
Gear selection is fine when engine not running, no noticeable slipping but maybe I'm missing it. There is also a sound similar to when the belt tensioner was on its way out but it's only audible when moving, not at idle and seems to go away when clutch pedal is pressed.
The master and slave cylinder were done about 40k ago when pedal disappeared downwards and did not return! Car has done 140k and checking service history sheet shows no mention of a clutch plate change (I've had it from 82k).
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Regards, Jonathan
