Hi, I am new to this forum so please forgive if this a common issue which has been listed before. My freelander has covered circa 65K, for a while now it has been tricky to engage reverse without crunching, now the problem is affecting first gear when engine is hot....i suspect that is the slave cylinder, if so is this a proper garage job or can it be done by 'mr clutch' or whoever......estimated cost anyone?

Cheers

OK, have read previous posts.......not happy !
So what, once upon a time, used to be a slave / master cylinder repair kit job taking a couple of hours, is now a gearbox removal job coupled with replacement of the entire sealed system.......whoopee, and I thought that Minis were bad news ! Unless someone knows differently of course....

Cheers

Mad Hat Man was being helpful, you should search for the related info.

This forum is top notch for info......If your not happy with the forum then you wont find better elsewhere.

possibly your gear selector arm bushes are worn????

If yu wanted a simple motor to work on then sell yo Hippoo and get a Series. Hippoos are reet buggers - almost everything needs a workshop and/or diagnostic kit.

good luck with the clutch tho. LR mite be takin it up as a fool time hobby:D:eek:

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll keep searching but fundamentally I'd better get into the 21st century and realise that cars are no longer designed to be worked on at home.

Cheers
