Hi everyone

I recently noticed that it was getting slightly difficult to get into gear and the pedal was biting at a ver low level, so I checked the clutch fluid and saw that the reservoir was empty. I put some fluid in and after a day or so the level dropped.

I changed the slave cylinder on Saturday (I had previously put a new one in in Feb of this year as part of rebuild and didnt show signs of a leak) as its its a fairly easy job.

Whilst the gear change and pedal are fine, the fluid has dropped a couple of inches. Any thoughts??

Oh and whist I had the spanners out I did an oil change, its a lot easier when the lump is on the bench! What an absolute pain in the arse it was to get the oil filter off.

Any help appreciated

So you've a clutch fluid leak - get a young apprentice to operate clutch pedal whilst you inspect for point of leak. Repair/replace leaking component - the clutch system is very easy to fault find, with very few parts/joints, it shouldn't take too long to find the leak point. Job done.

Re' oil filters, Landies are a doddle compared to Subaru Foresters [!]

Since replacing the slave cylinder after the very small drop in fluid, its not dropped anymore and the pedal is still firm. Hopefully all sorted.
