clutch fluid leak

i have what look like brake/clutch fliud along the botton of the gearbox,
would this be the clutch slave cylinder leaking. is it normal for the slave cylindrer on the clutch to go. the clutch seem find so far !
is it a big job to replace the slave cylindrer?

had this problem recently, dead easy, underside splatterered with fluid, two bolts to removeand undo clutch pipe, you can dismatle the slave cylinder if bore and piston ok a new kit for a couple of quid will do otherwise its £10 or about £15 for a genuine lucas one. yuo will proably see the rubber seal gone and so leaking past into bellhousing and out through drain hole. keep the reservoir topped up as if its a big leak you may find yourself without clutch if you leave it

Yep dead easy! Mine blew and i had the indignity of being recovered home! Doesnt take long at all, just watch for fluid up on top of the crossmember dripping down as you reach over it. Wear glasses/goggles to be safe!

just to say, it would probably be worth giving the bolts a good soaking with wd40 or similar overnight there's a lot of crap thrown up underneath that can be a problem, of course it depends on how dirty it is!
