Ive got a 1987 90 200tdi which ive completely changed the entire clutch system on, the master cylinder, slave, all the pipes between, the release arm, release bearing cover plate, pressure disc and the spigot bush.

At first the clutch wouldnt disengage at all although i know the arm was moving the clutch cover.

After having the gearbox in and out 3 times yesterday i found the problem to be the pressure plate sticking on the gearbox shaft. after fixing that i reassembled everything. now the clutch works but it still drags a lot does anyone know what might be causing this? possible need more adjustment on the master cylinder ?

Thanks

Peter

Is the nose bearing tight on the input shaft or not in straight ? .
Are you getting full travel on your clutch peddle / is there pressure within an inch of moving the peddle from rest ? .
Did you clean off the rust protection on the cover plate ?
Is your flywheel worn and the new plate is rideing on the ridges ?
Have you got HOT spot marks on your flywheel ?
How freely does your friction plate slide on the inputshaft ? - it should be really easy to slide on the saft .
