The clutch suddenley stopped releasing, so much so i couldn't get the car in gear, unless the engine was not running, put in gear, depress clutch then start, and then it was dragging lik mad. But I could leave the car until the next day and it would go into gear as normal (but a bit stiff). I checked the hydraulics and it all looked fine, so i split he gearbox off the engine last night and removed the clutch. It all looked fairly new (not had car very long), but inside the basket i heard a rattling, and i found what looks like a 1/4 of a shim/washer/spacer, it been snapped at one end and looks as if it may have been riveted or had holes where it has snapped. It is the same diameter as the thrust bearing. The thrust bearing feels very smooth, but dow wobble/pull in and out a lot
Any idea where that may have come from?? I'm hoping its from the bearing so i nly need a new bearing. has anyone got an exploded diagram of the clutch kit and parts?

Rover parts pictured, but very similar if not identical. (Same gearbox etc)

Clutch release bearing pictured along with clutch pressure plate.

Hope you get it sorted matey

Regards,

Steve

mine moves in and out about 3mm and you can wobble it around, its spins ok when pushed together. I assume that the shim/washer thing i found was a spacer/shim inside the thrust bearing. Time to order a new bearing and hopefully all will be OK, wahoo!
