Can anyone help with a wiring question please? Trying to fit a new clock to the dash but the electrical plugs are different.
The original was Red, Black and Brown.
The new plug is Green BlackRed Orange and Yellow
The instructions for the new clock tell me
Yellow - Battery
Black - Ground
Green - Set switch
Red- Ignition
Orange -Dash light
I am now in a pickle after several hours of trying
Can you tell me where to pick up a permanant live from behind the dash? I cant find anything permanenetly live.
I have had advice from the suppliers but must admit im now confused.
Is there a possibilty I have inadvertantly blow a fuse somewhere and thats why I cant find a permanent live?
I have checked the fuse box under the drivers seat and the one under the dash. All look good.
If anyone can talk to me like a 5 year old and help me through the connections that would be amazing
Thanks Jack

It would help if you tell us which vehicle and model this is on.

The original plug should have at least three of the connection wires you need. so test them to see what they are. I would assume permanent live, earth/ground and one from the lights i.e. dash panel lights. Each of which you should be able to check using a multi meter.

I would imagine you could pick up a permanent live from the back of the radio, if one of the three from the old plug isn't it.
But we do need to know which vehicle it is as you have put nothing in the "about" section of your profile.
