Hi,

I have just replaced the flasher relay on my freelander, as the indicators no longer flashed when on. However since doing this when the windscreen wipers are on there is a clicking noise coming from the new relay. Does this sound like a faulty relay or is there some other explanation?

Regards,

Chris

Hi,

yes, when I put the old relay back the clicking stops when the wipers are on.

hmmm so i hate electrics and stuff like that but maybe it doesnt do it on old relay as relay doesnt work, and maybe reason it doesnt work now is due to the clicking that is now on the new relay. so i would say to see if relay is faulty you will need to exchange it and try again, but i would hazzard a guess that there must be some sort of connection issue with wires or something between indicators and wiper, maybe in the steering column. but i not really sure :(

Hi,

it's a slow click.

Also noticed the relay is clicking when I press the brake pedel.

The flashers do work correctly when on and the extra clicking when the wipers are on stops.

It's all very odd.

Cheers

Mine did exactly the same thing when I fitted the flasher relay for the tow pack! Couldn't find what was causing it, I guessed a faulty relay so put the original back in! No more clicking or the trailer light dimly flashing when wipers were on or brakes were pressed! I haven't got around to buying another relay to check it again yet! Just use the towing relay when I've got a trailer on for now then change it back to the original!

Where did you buy your relay from? Is it the original LR part?

Hi,

that's exactly what's happening, forgot to mention the dimly lighting trailer light.

It was a Lucas part towing relay, link and part number in earlier post. Sorry typing this on my iPhone which is not ideal.

I have emailed the place I bought it from to ask for a replacement. I'll letyou know if this fixes the issue.

Cheers

Chris
