The K&N filter on our 2.5 diesel is really dirty, I have no idea how old it is ,my question is can you clean them? I thought I saw it somewhere that you could, but I might be wrong . If you can what can you clean them with , I have done a search on the forum for the answers but there appears to be nothing if anybody has any clues I would be most grateful for their help.

Cheers.

Remeber if you are re-oiling the filter that you should probably clean the MAF/AFM (Air Flow Meter) a few weeks afterwards. The oil will stick to the hot wire sensor and could harm performance. They can be cleaned by liberally spraying the MAF with solvent cleaner and leaving it to dry.
Just a thought as the oil is pretty nasty!

Which is why you should stick it in the woodburner and enjoy the warmth from it - the car was designed to run with a paper air filter which works very well.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dun't spray it with solvent if its a hotwire it'll kill it! if you must clean it use a pan of boiling de-mineralised water then dry with compressed air solvent cleaner WILL damage it
