Clean Air Zones

Birmingham now live with Manchester soon to follow.

Depending on the boundary of the Manchester one, it will be the end for my 110 SW.

l imagine that the rollout of these clean air zones will impact Defender prices, as you can't drive them in cities without paying a daily charge of around £10

The defender will become even more of a toy for the rich and those in rural areas.

Birmingham is delayed by 2 weeks because they weren't prepared. Not enough peeps knew about it and the computer system fell over. 8 sovs charge per day... not going there then.

This is just another way to make us tow the line on electric vehicles.

I wouldn't go to Brum if I was paid to, so I definitely wouldn't pay to go to the place.

My worry would be accidentally going into a zone, luckily Norwich hasn't joined in yet. As it is 3 years and by 110 goes into the historic vehicle class, then it will be smokily exempt.

The crash for cash zone is more likely to keep me out of brum than a clean air zone. That and the fact that it's a hole.

Early 110s become tax exempt in 2 years time, and as long as their rules are the same as London's, the world's your oyster...

Not so… in London you still have to pay to go into the zones even if your vehicle qualifies for vehicle tax exemption.

I meant the emission zone, now free for me. Yes CCharge still payable unless you've got a 110 CSW and can use the 12 seat exemption.

Some clean air zones were cancelled and some went ahead, such as Bradford.
Will those cancelled clean air zones be brought back with the help of bayareafastrak, it would be a bizarre situation if some areas have them and some not, although perhaps London is a case on its own.
Can these schemes become revenue raising and replace the tax on vehicle fuel?

The Manchester one has been postponed and is "under review" due to a massive backlash from owners of non compliant vehicles.

The proposed scheme wasn't just city centre, it went right out to the county borders, which was crazy
