Chequer plate fitting

I was thinking of tarting up the old landie with a set of chequer plate for the doors and wings.

I have however had a look at the lower front doors and notice a slight crease where they have been blown open against the hinges. Also it looks like as you open the door it is very close to the wing and may not have enough space to allow for the 2 or 3 mm of the plate.

Anyone fitted this stuff to their car and are the above points nothing to worry about.

Are you making the panels or buying a pre cut set?. If you are buying a set it should be a matter of fitting without a problem. Can you knock out the dent?

I can probbly knock the dent out. I am going to buy a precut set

Get a few layers of cardboard until you build up 3mm and cut out a template to the area you're concerned about.
Stick it on and see if it fouls anything.

I know you can buy self adhesive chequer plate affect, might suit what you want to do...

take your door trim off and see if the frame has bent on the hinge area. fix with a hammer some weld other gubbins

Stick on effect not what I want really I have seen it but discounted it.

One of the issues I have is once in knock the crease out of the door it is still likely to open to far and cause the same problem not sure of there is a way to restrict how far the open

you just add a larger rubber block in the channel

edit: ooooh i just realised this is a disco not a fender
