:mad: just bought a chassis off the net second hand its worse than mine GIVE UP ; BEING A FABRICATOR WELDER TIG OR MIG does anyone know whether or not a chassis can be made from stainless steel ie 4mm thick grade stainless all parts made manually, manufactured in a jig if so can anyone give info COULD MAKE WITH A BIT OF TIME :D (if it was allowed/possible?)

ps how long do galvanised chassis tend to last cos id much rather make it myselfout of stainless HELP HELP HELP

Hello blackdragon, if I were you I'd go with the Galv option its practical.
A stainless chassis isn't impossible but its highly impractical, trust me I'm an apprenticeship served Fabricator / Welder with 27 years under me belt. The cost would be astronomical not to mention the cost of specialist labour and the jig. Apart from these factors more and importantly, the vehicle would need to be subject to a Single Vehicle Approval test if the stainless option were pursued because the chassis would not be classed as a "direct replacement".
I'd relish the idea of a stainless chassis

:D better start looking into an acceptable spec stainless grade and start making the jig and also read up on th SVA Test cheers I love a challenge
stainless it is I needed just one to say stainless would be great and now I can start researching and building :p
