Hi people I'm a newbie on this site trying to find out a bit about changing the nearside brake cable on the electronic braking system and what is involved

It's good that you're having a "go" yourself.
However, do you mean "electric parking braking system" - as the braking system is hydraulic ?

It's quite involved to change the cables on EPB module. It's not for the faint hearted that's for sure. It involves removing the EPB module from above the rear diff. Also both rear brakes need to be stripped, so the cables can be removed. The module then needs stripping down so the replacement cables can be fitted (do both while it's apart). The module then needs to be refitted to the vehicle, and a calibration should to be done with a diagnostic device.

Has it rubbed through on the stainless clip?

I'm assuming so.

I use this trick to keep the cables in serviceable condition.
