Hi guys and gals.

Im looking at getting a winch for my disco 1. problem is i dont have much cash for it so im looking at the warrior 12000lb winch. has any one had any experience of these one and are they any good?

I have been advised that if you like wet or muddy conditions they are a bit of a pig to waterproof properly, but if you avoid the wet stuff it should be ok for the occasional pull out.

Thanks discopol. Thats a shame as I do like the odd dip in muddy puddles. I know there are the rebanded name for champion winches.

I've had my S12000 for 12 months now and its never let me down.. one or two little niggles on my friends older C12000 but once again its never failed, keep it well maintained i.e. washed after playing in the dubs :D and a good coating of wd40 after the wash and all should be good.. come standard with 3 year warranty as well....

Iv got a c12000, never le me down either, and iv played in lots of deep puddles.
But a mate has the same winch, bought at the same time and has had quite a few issues with his

Thanks guys. Nice to get peoples opinions as the sales people just want to sell it so they tell you what you want to hear.

I got a c12000ewx winch and it's been perfect, plenty of power and never let me down, they aren't fast winches but mine has proved reliable, been through mud, water and all kinds of other ****e, had it a while and it's still working 100%, champion have a uk base as well so spares are easy to get plus mine came with a 2 year warranty on it. I wouldn't get an eBay one though as if you have issues it's harder to sort...

Im planning to pick one up from john craddocks as they have them on the shelf and are local to where I work should I have problems. Thanks for the advice:)

I got a brand new 12000 from m&m for £350, not used it yet its still in the box, there heavy that's all I know about it

I have the warrior 9500lb on the series and its a cracking winch, its pulled big trees out of a river,a shogun out of a 6 foot snowdrift and the last pay n play I was at I spent most of the day winching stuck disco's out :) it's still working fine after a year and its had its fair share of mud and water, well worth the money in my opinion

This is it in action pulling me through a "bit" of mud
