Previous owner had bodged the "wood trim" under the cubby with what seems to be RTV Sealant. Any suggestions on what glue to use ?

Ignore the scratches - they show brighter in the photos than under normal light.

Not all superglue is the same the key ingredients is cyanoacrylate which they don't all have most cheap supermarket types are a poor version .

Unlike traditional adhesives which are water-based, cyanoacrylate glue is composed of an acrylic resin. The main ingredient in cyanoacrylate glue is cyanoacrylate, which is an acrylic monomer that transforms to a plastic state after curing.

I use araldite for everything. Cheap enough and sticks well. We use it to protect blade tips in the desert. If it can survive that, I am sure it'll work to stick a panel to a Landy.

But that does not mean it will stick to some plastics. Also it dries rigid and does not stand up well to surfaces that flex.

Even Araldite doesn't stick to some plastics, it comes away from my plastic mixing surface easily once hard.
