its not heating me hoose.. thing is ave binned the idea of ever getting it working and i'm going back to gas. my son knows someone that is installing it themselves and are on the look out fer a heat pump.i was trying to find out if the one i have will be big enough fer them . thats when i found out it's a 10kw one..what i'd like to know is, if that is input or output?
if thats input i should be able to sell the fooker and if its output 'i'll be getting me shotgun off the wall.

I dont know if Geothermal heating is designed to fully heat a house in the depths of winter.

i went to a seminar a while back by a company based in holland. they specialise in deep well geothermal heating. its a closed system and can only generate an ambient temp of approx 10 degrees C. this can produce a saving but it would take years to get the benefits over initial costs.

i dont know what you guys are doing digging holes in your back garden... does it actually work? to benifit from the earths natural heat you have to be atleast 10m down. or so i believe. (wouldnt think im an engineering geologist would you ;) )

ah well if you go down about a meter you get enough heat so that once you up the pressure then you can heat yer house.. jings they even use this method in switzerland but i think they go fer the deep probe that goes down about 80m where as in these more moderate clims we only need go down about 1m...i know others that have a similar system to mine and they have no problem with it..mine was put in by ****s that didn't know and probelly still don't know what they are doing.

10 Kw should be the OP side or it would be cheeper to do away with a pump that took 10kw to run it and have 10 x 1 kw bar fires to heat the house
10 kw dunt seem much to heat a house..
the gas boiler i have is 32kw
as this geo thermal stuff is supposed to give you 4kw for every kw used to pump it then 10 seems input seems about right...
but because the heating is so crap i'm wondering if they have installed a 10kw output pump. i can't find any thing that says what the output is . there is just this one label on the back that has 10kw on it.
