Cellulose paint supplier on ebay

What's this stuff like to paint? I was going to paint mine in 2 pack and I've had good luck with it before but this might be a better option.
 
I thought cellulose paint was banned now because of all the fookin tree huggin brigade,or is that just commercial use :confused:

Careful bud at the very least it will give you a thick head in the morning.
I used to work for a coach firm back in the 80's when they had wooden chassis and one of my jobs was to spray the chassis with red lead but they were too tight to buy thinners so i had to use petrol.
now apart from the obvious danger of ignition i was down a pit doing this and i lost 4 hours from when i was overcome and came round:eek:
 
I'm certainly no a professional sprayer but have used celly on bikes before with good results. Strictly speaking you can only buy it for classics now.

I've not sprayed it yet, still prepping, it has to be thinned 50:50 to be sprayed.
2.5l thinned to 5l for spraying will cover a lot of landy.
I'll report back after spraying with results and pics.
 
I used 2pack last night to paint my seatbox and tub, that stuff is dangerous I believe. Sort of thinking of paying someone to do the rest of the landy or changing paints, not worth killing myself over.

Can anyone offer any real life information on this one, I have read all the H&S stuff but like any H&S is always appears worse than it is. Look at a tin of gloss paint, they would have you believe you will fall of your perch the next day but in reality your average DIY painter doing their house every couple of years isn't going to have any issues - maybe a painter...

Also, I find 2pack is simple to paint, I don't know if I am any good at painting or the paint is just easy to work with, is there another GOOD option thats not a nightmare to make up and will paint well and offer a good paintjob.

As long as well ventilated really don't believe you'll do yourself any serious harm doing a one off job.

That said 2 pack is more hazardous than good old cellulose

A proper face mask (cover mouth and nostrils) would be sensible

I used a Sundstrom SR100 and I'm getting a new organic/inorganic/gas/ammonia blah blah filter for it before I do the rest.

My thoughts were to remount the tub and seatbox, get the LR drivable again, reverse it out of the unit just enough on a dry, windfree day, spray it outside then quickly shove it back into the unit to dry.

I can do the wings/bonnet etc in the same fashion.

Roof might be a pest as I am doing it off the LR as I want it done inside and out.

I'll think of something!
 
I've never used 2pack so don't know anything about it, celly is different in that the final finish is achieved by sanding with fine wet and dry after spraying to get the result you require.
That's how I do it anyway.
 
two pack is bad for you as it contains cyanide, suppose to use air fed masks when spraying, i have done it outside before with a decent mask on and i am still here,

Celly paint just use in a well ventilated place and use a fine particle mask< doesn't have to be wet sanded and polished as it will never give you as good a shine as two pack or be as hard.

The last time i did my 90 i used celly and sprayed outside, got a good finnish (gun finnish) since it was a landy there was no need to colour sand and polish to take it offroad and scratch it.

when i worked for a plant hire company they used synthetic paint, it has a longer open time but you can get an accelerator and it dries quicker and has a hard shinny finnish
