My L Registered Softdash Classic LSE (just bought it) has no cats on the exhaust! It's had 4 branch manifolds and stainless mid and rear boxes fitted 5 years ago, and seems to have passed previous MOT's like that!

Surely an L registered car needs a Cat test for it's MOT? Can anyone shed any light?

It has a disconnected LPG system if that makes any odds? Does LPG burn cleaner? However I'm sure it's been disconnected for years!!

Cheers,

John

Have seen a couple of threads on here about this.
In most cases if the vehicle was originally fitted with one then it must have one for it to pass the MOT.
However I think theres been a few loopholes, so maybe your vehicle falls into this?
Am sure a more knowledgeable post than mine will be here soon :)

If it's a 1993 model it must have cats for MOT. There was a loophole were by the car could be tested on gas and pass. But it is now a fail if there is no cat when one was fitted as standard. Which in 1993 they were.

plenty mot stations that dont give a feck though..they will be the ones that dont check the brakes as dont av or cant be bothered to use interia brake tester..

Just put a brick on the rear parcel shelf, if when you apply the brakes it hits you on the head, it's a pass. :D:D:D
