Capstan winch dog problems, help!Hi guys, I,m struggling with a capstan winch problem

I,m struggling with a capstan winch problem. My engine is a 2.5 Diesel.
The starter dog does not have a pin to fit it to the crankshaft pully wheel. The lower pully bolt head is much bigger than the spare bolt which i have.
Now here's the problem...There's someone on ebay who's selling the drive dog for £30 with it's locating pin but i don't know if (1) The pully bolt will fit through the Drive Dog without opening up the hole. (2) I don't know if there is a pin locating hole on the Sherpa's lower pully to locate the dogs pin.

Just a thought..but will the lower crank pully from the 2.25 5 bearing engine fit in place of the 2.5 pully or are they different sizes.
My train of thought is..if this 2.25 pully will fit, then surley it will a locating pin hole for the dog.
Appart from this...the only thing i can think of is drilling a hole in the lower pully for the dog's pin to fit into. But this may proove a bit dodgy.

Any ideas guys, cos i'm pretty stuck otherwise.

i thought the dog was integral to the bolt?
it was on mine, the 2.25 pulley bolt with dog attached is a different thread size to the 2.5 pulley bolt, so not interchangeable.
maybe mine was a home made affair?

I've been scratching my head for a long time, over this one. Many years ago the Series 2A was fitted with a 2.25 5 bearing crank but the engine blew so i fitted the 2.5 Sherpa. The other engine was scrapped, BUT...i forgot about the bottom pulley when i scrapped it (stupid me).
If my memory serves, the old drive dog fitted with the pin into a locating hole on the old pulley and the crank bolt simply fitted straight through and the torqued up. Never had a problem with that.
This HOWEVER, is giving me a few headaches to solve it.

seems a logical way to do it.
mine is all integral and as such wont fit the 19j engine i currently have.
i will weld a lump of slotted tube onto the bolt head, when time permits.

Yes i also thought about going down that route with the welder, but.. it then occured to me,..how do i get the huge socket over the dog to the bolt, if the pulley has to come off again!!
I then had the thought of..taking off the pully bolt and using a slitting disc to grind a groove across the centre of the bolt head, and making the groove about 8mm deep. Then.. weld a piece of steel onto the dog, grind it to shape so that it drops into the groove.
There's got to be an easy way of doing this....it's just finding it!

the original bolt / dog i have, i made a socket for it.
would have to do the same for the metric bolt i guess,
when i get round to actually sorting it out!
