Can't select low in a 95 P38

What is the likely cause of not being able to select low range in a 95M auto p38?
Is it a soliniod on this model? I'm guessing that if low is not used then something will seize causing the solinoid to blow.
If this is the case, how easy is it to get to.

I am pretty sure that high / low selection is motor assisted on these, and could be seized/ burnt out.

As mentioned, the low range is engaged by a motor. These are realy easy to access from underneath if you get it up on ramps. Get a friend to push the button while you listen from underneath. You will need the ignition on , but dont start the engine.
